Pain Point: “I’m posting on Instagram but nothing is happening. My engagement is really low and I’m not getting any inquiries or orders. What am I doing wrong?”.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are numerous possible answers to this question, but I want to focus on the one that stands out to me most frequently.
▪️Are you using your Instagram account to serve, or to sell?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If your answer is “SELL”, then we’ve found the problem and it’s time for a solution.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Everything you share on your social channels should offer a benefit to whoever is on the receiving end. Inspire them, help them, educate them, solve a problem for them, humour them, share knowledge with them, build a relationship with them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No matter how beautiful or wonderful it might be, it’s not enough to simply post about your product or service over and over. It’s like shouting into the void “look at me”, “look at me”! And let’s be honest…. No one is ever looking at those people. (Hint: We unfollow them.)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Think about it this way: serve, serve, serve, sell. You should be serving your audience far more than you sell to them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I truthfully believe there is no such thing as giving too much value to your audience.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The more value you can bring to their life without it costing them a cent, the more valuable you (and your business) become to them in the long run.
