“I wish I had time to…..”
How many times have you uttered this sentence?
I’m not about to tell you anything you don’t already know, but my hope is it gives you the shock you need to FIND the time to do whatever it is that’s on your “If only I had time…” list.
Do you spend 30 minutes a day on your phone scrolling between various social media apps? (I’m not talking about actively engaging in marketing efforts… I’m talking about aimlessly scrolling—aka procrastinating.)
What about if you add in the time you click over from Facebook and read website articles, and the time you spend scrolling the latest Madewell sale after you got the email in your inbox? #guilty. Would that account for another 30 minutes in your day?
I’m not here to tell you to cut out your binge watching of Cheer on Netflix, or to deny yourself the aimless scroll when you need a brain break, but if you look at your Daily Average Screentime on your phone, I’m going to guess it’s significantly over 2 hours / day… and potentially up to 4 hours. If you could save just 1 hour of that time, imagine what else you could achieve.
I’m consciously *attempting* to devote an hour a day to reading, instead of scrolling… and ironically it was while reading Marie Forleo’s Everything is Figureoutable I came across these shocking numbers that made me realise just how much time I could “gain back” in my year if I began making more conscious decisions about how my time is spent. Do you think you could find an extra 30 minutes in your work day?
