If you were in the market for a steam mop, which of the following would get your attention? (This isn’t a trick question! Don’t overthink it!)
A video talking you through the high-tech features of the mop that make it so good at its job.
A video demonstration of the mop in action cleaning under a dining table after kids’ dinner time. (GAH. Why are kids so messy?!)
Let me guess. The second option?!
The same applies to our businesses.
Don’t just tell people what you do. SHOW them.
Below I’ve outlined 5 examples of what this might look like for you if you’re a service-based business.
Don’t just tell me the 5 steps of your branding process.
Let me understand what it feels like to go through this process with you by sharing progress shots of a brand developing from inspiration, to final presentation and THEN to execution. I want to see the new brand in action and imagine how it might feel if that was my brand.
Don’t just tell me you bring my vision to life.
Show me the deliberations about different styles of furniture and finishings and why you chose a particular direction. Show me different layout considerations for the space. Show me the before and after transformation of client’s spaces so I can see the impact of your design and sourcing in action and desire the experience for myself.
Don’t just tell me it takes you 3-day to do all the flowers for my wedding.
Let me value why each of those days matters, starting with processing. Show me the unboxing followed by a work station piled up with roses as you strip every stem of its thorns and leaves. Then show me how those roses perked up after being hydrated. And then show me you using those roses to design a bouquet and centerpiece. And finally show me the bride holding her bouquet, or the reception tablescape.
Don’t just tell me working on a reformer will help improve my core strength.
Show me the use of a reformer in action and explain the different muscles being engaged as you step through a particular exercise. Show me the benefits of strengthening these muscles such as improved posture, for example.
Don’t just tell me you help your clients achieve X, Y and Z.
Share a video testimonial of you talking with a client as they communicate how working with you made them feel, what action they went on to implement, and the results they achieved by taking your guidance.
