Are you guilty of “random acts of social”?
Do you post to your social platforms sporadically, without any set plan?
Do you share content based on the mood you’re in on the day?
Do you switch up your key talking points regularly because you get bored or tired of saying the same thing?
Do you fear repetition so only post when you have something “fresh” to show and share?
All of these social media habits are common — REALLY common. But they’re also the reason your ideal client isn’t interacting with you and taking the next step from being a “follower” to an engaged (and hopefully *paying*) customer or client.
You see, as humans we only remember things as a result of repetition; seeing things again, and again, and again.
Repetition = Remembering = Trust.
And it’s only when we are TRUSTED that someone will invest in us by becoming a paying customer or client.
“The familiar is normal, and the normal is trusted,” as @sethgodin says.
So when we get tired of our key message and decide to change it We lose trust.
When we stop posting because we have nothing new to share We lose trust.
When we change direction in our content without explanation We lose trust.
We don’t lose trust because people think we’re being shady! We lose trust either because we’ve confused people, or they’ve forgotten about us and have found other businesses to invest their attention in.
Remember, less than 5% of your followers will see any one piece of content that you share. (Read that again). So while you might be tired of your content and your key message, 95% of your followers haven’t even heard it yet!
Repetition is your friend, friends!
p.s I first shared this content in June 2021. Did you see it? (See my point? )
