The first photo was me on June 17, shortly after my last post. In emergency, feeling like absolute rubbish, breastfeeding a baby. #wakeupcall
It wasn’t serious. I’m absolutely fine now. (See the second photo.) But it was scary.
The ER doctor’s report would have said something like: “Fever, Tachycardic, Chest infection. Prescribed antibiotics.”
What I knew looked more like this:
11 months without a full night’s sleep.
This was my 6th chest infection.
Previous rounds of antibiotics hadn’t fixed it.
I’d lost count of the covid tests and Drs appointments.
And all of this despite the most supportive husband and the best network of friends and family a girl could hope for.
The real prescription I needed? TAKE A BREAK.
If I was to finally get better and my immune system recover, it was clear something had to give. I decided that was my marketing. This caused me great angst… particularly considering Marketing Strategy is my thing! But I told myself it would just be for July. My existing clients were my top priority. Marketing could wait.
But then the most surprising lesson of all occurred. It was suddenly late August and my business hadn’t missed a beat. The inquiries didn’t stop. I launched a group marketing program, and booked out my new copywriting service for the rest of 2021 without a single Instagram post.
I don’t say any of this to gloat. I say it because I am so GRATEFUL. The two years I’d heavily invested in marketing my business and building a community around The Strategy Studio truly paid off when I needed it most. I was able to let go of all my responsibilities around marketing for a short while yet my profit continued to grow.
The moral of the story? Marketing is hard work. But it’s SO WORTH IT. (Oh, and sleep is important.)
It feels good to be back!
