Strategy, Marketing and Copywriting is what I do, so it might shock you to know that I don’t have a strict content plan!
Let me explain.
I have a strategy. I know what my brand stands for and how I like to communicate. Each time an idea comes to mind, I consider whether it’s in alignment with my brand messaging and if so, I do one of 3 things:
When I sit down to write, I’m conscious of where different pieces of content would sit in my funnel—making sure I’m not saturating just one part of the Attention, Connection & Conversion equation—but beyond that, I don’t have a set plan.
Why am I even sharing this? I’m doing so in the hope it gives you some freedom to let your marketing EVOLVE. Be less rigid, less structured. Respond to topics that capture your attention at any given time. Be human. Just communicate and share. We’re all here for the real-world content and less-polished moments. Roll with it!
Now to be clear: I’m NOT advocating for abandoning your strategy. Consistency of message MATTERS. I’m just giving you permission to maybe try colouring outside the lines once in a while. It’s not for everyone, but for me, I’m so much more creative when I don’t feel restricted by a “perfect plan” I need to follow.
What do you prefer? Do you feel lost without a Content Plan, or do you like the freedom of feeling like you’re “winging it” *just* a little?
