No one wants to click the link in bio to read your blog post. There. I said it.
We’re all tired of click-bait tactics that make us leave the platform to get any real value. But also, we just don’t want to! Call me lazy, but if you want me to engage with your content—deliver it to me where I’m already “hanging out”. (In my PJs on my couch with a cup of tea. JK. I mean on the social media platform I’m on, obviously.)
I’m ALL about nurturing your audience via a platform you own, like your email list, rather than a social media account that could be blocked / stolen / disappear for no apparent reason at any moment. BUT you can still do that without asking your audience to jump through hoops to get there.
Try this instead:
Turn Blog Posts into Social Media Series
Get even more life out of your blog post by turning it into a series of social media posts. This keeps your audience engaged over time and makes your valuable insights easily digestible. See my ChatGPT prompt on how to do that effectively.
Use DM Marketing
Your audience wants to engage with you right where they find you. Asking them to click through to a blog post can be a barrier, and many won’t make the leap. Save the CTA that requires them to leave a platform for when they REALLY have to. Better yet, use ManyChat DM marketing to deliver the URL they need directly to their DMs, making the process seamless.
Offer Quick Tips and Insights Directly
If DM marketing is a step too far, put your freebie or newsletter sign-up link directly in your Stories. Anything to avoid the ol’ link in bio scenario, because ain’t nobody got time (or patience) for that.
To clarify, your link in bio still has value. We’ve all been well trained to go there when they’re looking for something specific. But don’t use your in-feed content to drive people to your link in bio, because THAT’S when you’ll lose them.
Here’s just a few of the benefits of making your content more accessible, instead of gatekeeping it:
You have expertise to share, so stop gatekeeping it. If you want people to interact with you, LET THEM.
The minute we ask people to go elsewhere, we usually lose them. (Because by the time they’ve followed the 3 steps to get there, they’ve forgotten what they were even doing in the first place. How good are our attention spans these days?!)
When you make it easy for your audience to access and engage with your expertise you’ll see higher engagement, build stronger relationships, and establish yourself as a trusted authority.
